The Apprentice Program

TAS Apprentice Program is a comprehensive training regimen preparing future tattoo artists to confidently enter the world of professional tattoo artistry. While in the program, the apprentices will be closely monitored and mentored by our experienced artists in the three areas that comprise the tattoo industry: Art, Business, and Craft.

Coursework

Art

A thorough understanding and appreciation of art is the foundation of any great artist. Hence, our apprentices will be given a comprehensive understanding of the history of tattooing through the ages as well as gain the necessary skills to translate their own artistic vision to create tattoo designs that fit and flow with the human body.

Business

Besides Art, this program is designed to cover the business side of the tattoo industry. TAS will prepare future tattoo artists to navigate the tumultuous world of business and finance. The business aspect will cover getting a NYC tattoo license, gaining a thorough understanding of all the laws surrounding tattooing in New York State, and how to properly market and promote yourself as a tattoo artist.

Craft

In the Craft portion of the course, you will begin the process of creating the perfect tattoo through the practical application of your artistic skills and experience. Apprentices will learn the proper use of various tattoo equipment and supplies by utilizing them to tattoo on fake skin before proceeding to practicing on real skin

Duration

The coursework is designed to cover the duration of 16 weeks or about 200 hours. During this time, the mentors and our team of experts will prepare the apprentices to become professional tattoo artists.

Admission

TAS’s Apprentice Program is dedicated to quality over quantity. Thus, to ensure that each apprentice is given ample time and attention to hone their skills as an artist, each class will be limited to only 8 apprentices at a time
